ARTIST STATEMENT
In drawing the figure I am interested in the body as an inert
subject, where anonymity, apathy and aloofness become engaging
qualities along with (or in spite of) the appeal of nakedness.
The struggle which for me is the process of drawing, the constant
act of making a mark, then obliterating it, or smearing it away,
is what I think my drawings are really 'about'. The drawing of
the subject emerges as a record or a diary of this all consuming
activity.
