These exquisite Canadian creations are hand-blown
in the revered Czech tradition, perfected by centuries of craftsmanship.
For each distinctive design, the artist follows age-old methods
of glassblowing, colour selection and blending to produce a piece
of commanding beauty and originality.
Jan Benda, a native of the Czech Republic, graduated from the
Technical Glassblowing Institute in 1969 with a journeyman diploma.
Driven by passion and gifted with a rare talent, Jan worked at
a glassblowing studio in Zelezny Brod where he soon achieved the
status of Master Glassblower.
With his family, Jan emigrated to Canada in 1983. Four years later,
he reached his dream by opening his own studio, Krystyna Glass.
Jan continues to innovate the medium of glassblowing on the Sunshine
Coast in B.C.
