Peter Dumans is a Winnipeg based artist with the world around him as inspiration and the welding torch as his paintbrush. He predominantly creates in copper, brass, stainless steel, steel and chrome. His sculptural forms and multimedia collages also incorporate multi textual techniques using clay and wood. He enjoys the physical participation related to the medium - cutting, pounding, shaping and welding.

Background
Peter Dumans is a Winnipeg Artist. He developed a need to express himself visually from an early age. He started working in metal in his high-school years and went on to take a number of off-campus courses to augment his passion for creating in metal. Self-educated, Peter sought to defy classification and be able to explore his art form in an uninhibited fashion without restrictions. The world around him was his inspiration-the welding torch his paintbrush. Peter's fascination with diverse cultures and the fusion of their mythical similarities, further led him to explore a successful collaboration between the two, appealing to a broader range of society.
Peter's personal sense of wholeness, harmony and radiance are reflected in each piece of his work and leads to the artist's universal appeal and ability to pull the audience in. Peter will often work on ten different pieces at one time, relating a series of intertwined ideas. Finding time to create is Peter's only limit.

Art Form
Peter predominantly creates in copper, brass, stainless steel, steel and chrome. His sculptural forms and multimedia collages also incorporate multi textural techniques using clay and wood. He enjoys the physical participation related to the medium - cutting, pounding, shaping and welding. The pounding process in itself provides a rhythmical inner driving force compared only to the drum beat within a multi-layered musical arrangement or composition.
